1. Is a spiritual organization a necessity?
    
   The Path is an individual endeavor -- each person has to travel it by himself. Yet, human beings are social animals. We do benefit from the support of our peers and from guidance from more experienced travelers. This is the "church" aspect of a spiritual organization. Then there is a missionary aspect: a need to bring new souls into the fold. This helps the young seekers who will be glad to return the favor one day. The church and missionary aspects are quite workable and useful -- provided they are prevented from becoming dysfunctional. Never abdicate your inherent responsibilities to an organization, though.
    
2. How is Modern Seers legally organized?
    
   Modern Seers is organized as a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit religious corporation. Our assets are explicitly dedicated to the benefit of our associates, students and friends. We are dedicated to individual enlightenment and engaged compassion toward society. Donors may deduct contributions to Modern Seers as provided in section 170 of the IRS Code. All donations are legally and fully tax-deductible.
   
   The official purposes for which our corporation was formed include organizing congregations and missions in the Advaita Tantra Yoga tradition, preserving and promoting the monastic Avadhu'ta Order of the tradition, and teaching the practice of Abhidhya'na Yoga. We encourage scientific inquiry and scholarly research of spiritual practices and of their influence on the individual and society.
    
3. When did you start your website?
    
   The website began in the Fall of 1995 when I began posting online articles from the (now discontinued) newsletter Tantrik Path. Since then, several pages of our site have become quite popular on the Internet.
     
4. Do you guide students over the Internet?
    
   A cautious yes. In the past, I have limited my instructions over the Internet to spiritual counseling, but recently I am being guided to open up and do more. I am even thinking about giving initiations over the 'net. Stay tuned!
    
5. How can I contribute something meaningful?
    
   Get involved! Study this website, practice the teaching, make a connection, contact us, work with us. Contribute money (entails some sacrifice) or shop at charity malls (entails some effort but no sacrifice).
